Professor E is another example of modern day fashion with an emphasis on storytelling.
The brand is from Taiwan and has no identified Creative Director. All models have their faces covered in garments which lend to the inspiration of each collection.
An element of mystery surrounds every aspect of the brand, which itself is a point of difference.
Happy 99 is a brand which was started by two 3D artists, who began by creating surrealist 3D modelled shoe designs in 2019.
After gaining traction on their virtual designs, the pair decided to create a physical pair of shoes, and went on to release garments and accessories.
This is an example of how creative disciplines can intersect, and create a unique product through a unique design process.
Kid Super is another brand which demonstrates innovation in how they present their work.
An example is through their art auction runways, such as in the SS23 show when a model began walking out of a painting as pictured.
The brand has also shown their garments through comedy shows, and most recently, a play.

Notinlist is an innovative and contemporary Malaysian fashion label by Xavier Ou, and is a brand which explores the idea of world building.
Each of the garments on the website is connected to a character in the fictional world of Xora, which is fully created, animated, and illustrated by Ou himself.
Wearing a piece from Notinlist comes with its own personality, making it so much more than just clothing.
Fashion is just as much what is shown as how it’s shown.
When thinking about innovative ways of displaying fashion, the Martin Margiela SS90 show is one to remember. Set on a playground in the outskirts of Paris, the show was unlike anything seen before. The show was first come, first served, and the front row was fully occupied by local children.
The show overturned exclusivity in the industry and was a pivotal moment in fashion history.More about this show can be seen in the documentary "The Artist is Absent" by Alison Chernick.
Created in 2020, Fanci Club is a Vietnamese fashion brand with Khahn Duy Tran as its creative director. The brand is not afraid of experimentation, especially in their marketing and product photography, as seen in this extract from a collection of photographs labelled “Under a Microscope”.
Garments were placed on a light box then photographed, in order to unveil their finer details; “looking into the existence of endless hidden beauty”, as described by Tran.
When thinking of the most extravagant designers, Walter Van Beirendonck is a name that comes to mind.
Part of the well-known Antwerp 6, Van Beirendonck was never shy to experiment in both his designs, and his presentation.
Shown is an excerpt from his SS98 show, for his brand Wild And Lethal Trash (WALT). This is known as one of his most eccentric shows and included a mass line-dance, reptilian humans, and models on stilts.
